Hi! My name’s Natalie. I’m an agender AFAB, neuro-spicy, chronically ill human residing in the Okanagan with my giant ginger kitty named Christoph.

As a child, I would pose my Barbie’s on top of the dollhouse and take photos on my little point-and-shoot film camera for days. I literally have entire photo albums full of these photos. For sake of me being your photographer, we’re going to pretend they were all perfectly in focus and impeccably cropped. Just kidding. I was ten. They were not. But, I did have a whole heck of a lot of fun!

Now, fast forward two decades, and that fun is now coupled with ever-growing skill and an attention to detail that ten-year-old me just wasn’t quite capable of. I like to think I did pretty well though.

My adult journey with photography started on New Years Day in 2023 when my partner (@logancotephoto) and I set out on a winter’s day hike with his cameras in hand. When we got as far as we could go with our poorly chosen footwear, we stopped, he handed me the camera, gave some basic tips and off I went! I loved it and a month later, I took the plunge and purchased my very first camera (Sony a7ii).

Though the focus (and yes, if you decide to co-create with me, be ready for many atrocious puns) of my work has changed, the intent has stayed the same: I want to create a space where all bodies feel safe and supported to be seen, and more importantly, I aim to capture moments that allow folks to witness themselves wholly and completely as a step in the process of self-reconciliation.

Whether it be a vulnerable moment gazing into the mirror during a boudoir shoot, the moment of surrender when you’re being tied by a partner, the skip in your step as you frolic through a field wearing your favourite cozy sweater, or the look in your eyes as they meet your child’s for your first family portraits: All of it leads to one thing. You. Truth, vulnerability, presence, and joy.
